Attack on old widow Belmati Devi ,Lalchand & Bhola Sekh & others accuused.

The Hindu community of Angarberia village of Bishnupur police station in Bishnupur-2 block of South 24 Parganas district, witnessed a hellish incident on Sunday afternoon, 02-08-20. 

Belpati Naskar (husband - Sricharan Naskar), a 60-year-old widow, a resident of Angarberia, was returning home afternoon after collecting some vegetables to support herself.

 The attack took place at a place named "Chhay Bighar Mor" in Angarberia village. This place is owned by a Hindu, Sudhamoy Naskar. 

It is to be noted that, the old woman has to earn money to make a living as she has no husband and son. So this old woman picks different types of vegetables like Indian spinach,Spinach,

Red amaranth,Water amaranth, Edible fern,Jute leaves,Taro stem,Pumpkin leaves,Sweet gourd etc from the field and sells them in the market for her livelihood. 

The old woman protested when some drinking youths, at  the land of Sudhamoy Naskar teased her. 

According to Belmoti Devi after that, unspeakable physical abuse started on her by  miscreants ; Lalchand Sheikh, Bhola Seikh Father- Aktar Sheikh and others. 

The miscreants beat the old woman severely. As She shouted for help they grabbed her cheek and even threw her into the water of a nearby paddy field. 

The old woman somehow escaped and survived. When the old woman informed the local Hindu youths, they came forward in cooperation. Several youths came to the spot and started protesting, quarreling started and then clashes broke out. 

In the incident, the miscreants started threatening Sudhamoy Babu by claiming Sudhamoy Babu's land as their own. within a few moments the event took on a communal shape!

 A large number of muslims people gathered in support of the miscreants. As a result, the local Hindus became frightened and terrified. Thereafter the political personalities started to cover up the incident. Reportedly a meeting started for reconciliation. People from both sides were present in the meeting. The responsibility for the incident fell on the Hindu youths as they supported to the old woman. The youths who fight for justice for the old woman were accused of violating the peace. 

The Hindu community alleges that, those who brutally harassed the old woman were not punished, instead those who protested were found guilty.
